Letter To Prime Minister

Owairaka District School

Wednesday 16th May

Rt Hon Jacinda Ardern
Office of the Chief Executive
Level 8 Executive Wing
Parliament Buildings
Wellington

Dear Prime Minister,

We are here to explain about this fun activity we do at Owairaka District School. It's called Garden to Table. We enjoy Garden to Table and think that all students in NZ should be able to have a go at it.

In Garden to Table we learn to harvest plants and we learn how to create delicious food. We use the honey from our school bees and eggs from our chickens. We have 4 Chickens named Dusty, Ginger-Ninja, Betsy and Violet.

We would like to have you at our school to try one of our Garden to Table recipes. Garden to Table is really a great thing to experience.

Garden to Table teaches you to read carefully because you need to read the recipe but sometimes we don't read very carefully. Once, a person was trying to find sugar and found a sugar container filled with salt and the person thought it was sugar and put it into the muffins and it was really disgusting but the other part was ok. It teaches you math too, because sometimes you need to add ¼ then add another ¼ which make half a whole.

We would like to invite you to our school and to try out one of our Garden to Table recipes, which we know you will enjoy. We would like to to ask the Government to help fund this program so all schools can learn how to eat healthy and experience new learning in a fun way.

Your Sincerely

-Washington H.
